About this Treatment
Blocks histamine. Histamine is a signaling molecule, sending messages between cells. Blocking histamine signaling can help to limit allergic reactions including itch. Histamine is not generally believed to be causative in PFIC, thus efficacy may be limited. Since histamine helps staying awake, using antihistamines can cause drowsiness.
To decrease pruritis/itch. Limited reports on possible efficacy in PFIC.
